Courage to take action
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela
Not many people want to admit it, but we all fear have things that we fear. We are programmed from a young age to believe that being brave means the absence of fear, when in fact, as the great Nelson Mandela once said, it is the brave man who feels the fear and chooses to proceed despite it.
It’s not easy for the everyday person to sit there and say, I want to do that thing that scares the living daylights out of me. I want to go ahead and climb that great big mountain, I want to go and start a new life in a faraway unknown land, I want to go ahead and quit the job I hate today. No one wants to jump to the front of the line for that.
It’s not comfortable, and it’s quite dreadful and paralyzing. It’s downright uncomfortable a majority of the time. When it comes to conquering our fears, our brain will do just about anything and everything to convince us that we should not go there, making all attempts to protect ourselves.
As soon as we think about what we fear, it tries to talk us out of it. It sets the alarm off and says, this is not where you want to be, this is not where you should be, this is uncomfortable, you don’t like this, you shouldn’t do this, you’re not qualified enough, you’re not skilled enough, you don’t know what you’re doing. These are all the risks, these are all the things that could happen, and that’s what will actually happen when you try to be courageous and do something new and unfamiliar.
You get nowhere by giving in easily to failure. Instead, we must learn from failure and keep going. That is where the magic happens, and growth occurs.
The reality is many believe that if they have tried once, and it doesn’t work, they are now entitled to give up and go back to doing whatever it was they were doing before, which means going back to status quo.
Instead, you will risk ending up looking back and being left with the following questions:
- What did I do that mattered in my life?
- What did I do that really impacted my life and or the lives of others?
- What are the truly memorable experiences that changed me and gave me perspective?
- What left me the feeling of pure joy and happiness?
The struggle is real; let’s dive deep into what truly holds us back from going after our wildest, most magical dreams and what is the ONE thing that will help fuel our courage.
Let’s talk Permission:
You don’t need Permission please remember that! You are going to get told NO hundreds of times in life. With every dream, you have to know that there will always be someone trying to police you and your goals. DON’T LET THIS STOP YOU! You must push forward and go after what it is that you want.
Many will question you, and many won’t understand your life’s motives, which is entirely OK. It’s not their responsibility; however, it is your responsibility to own your gifts and stay true to you. Honour yourself and go after what is that you wholeheartedly want in this life.
The Failure Factor:

When it comes to failure, we all want to “succeed”; we all want to have what it takes to be excellent and achieve our goals and dreams. The thought of failing is scary, it’s not ideal to many, and we all try to avoid it. The reality is that we will all fail. We will all fail in our lives in some way or another at one point or another. Failure is not to be frowned upon; it is the ammo you need to learn. You need to understand what not to do to grow and move closer to your dreams. This is an essential ingredient to reach your dreams/goals.
We must fail forward to move forward.
The Fear of Change:

Know that your ability to change and be mailable with the environment around you will affect your ability to reach your goals. Having an open mind to change is KEY.
Judgment:

Mr. Les Brown says, “People’s opinion of you or your life does NOT need to become your reality. “
Sure, people have their opinions, and all people judge; it’s a part of life. Don’t surrender your dreams because of someone else’s beliefs over your life.
The people who support and reinforce your growth and challenge you are the tribe you should be rolling with.
Comfort Zone:

We all get comfortable at some point or another, and that is OK! At that point, we need to step out of our box and do things differently to take us to the next stage. Our comfort zone is our worst enemy because it tricks us into believing we are fine and good where we are all comfy, cosy. You have to dig deep these times and get yourself out of that zone and into a new one for your growth.
Overwhelmed with the process:

Where do I start? What is it that I must do first? How do I get all of these tasks done and be OK?! These are the questions many get stumped on and fail to move forward. People want to make sure that they will have the guarantee. They want to know that if they go for it they will succeed. Unfortunately, that’s not how a majority of things in life work. Even if you do fail, which you will, failing is the key ingredient to success, have the courage to get back up and get back in the game again. Part of the beauty of chasing your dreams is in the discovery along the journey. As they say, it’s not always about reaching the destination; many times, it’s the journey itself.
The Money Back Guarantee
People want to make sure that they will have they will be guaranteed to succeed if they go for it.
The Takeaway:
To live a life you’ve always dreamed of, one must let go of all that is familiar and safe and walk confidently in pursuit of dreams, even if there is fear. Grasp on tight to what you want, nurture it, believe in it, focus on it, and dare to have the courage to take action.
Get excited for the endless possibilities that will arise and trust the process and your abilities. Always remember your WHY, and let that be your constant motivation to push you to the finish line. Your why should be that burning flame inside of you that keeps you going. It burns so fiercely that even fear cannot stop you.
