What’s wrong with so much comfort and convenience?
The human mind is wired to desire comfort at every point in time. It is a natural craving for people to expect to have convenience in different situations. As natural as it seems, the place of convenience can be dangerous, especially if you desire to experience life. Your comfort zone is that place where you become comfortable, and your abilities are not tested or stretched. It is the place where you do nothing new or different from your usual routine.
Your comfort zone keeps you in the apprehension of the unknown or uncertainties, thus keeping you within specific confines and denying you the experience of living. For you to live, you need to step out of your comfort zone, and here are a few steps to make it happen.
Pick challenging activities
Knowing that it is fear that holds you back, pick out challenging activities which will enable you to face such concerns squarely.
The more you face them, the more you become accustomed to the principle of risk-taking, and gradually the hold of fear over you becomes broken. They may be simple activities you have always dreaded; make a list of them with a firm resolution to undertake them.
It’s not enough to pick out challenging tasks; you should also carry them out. Taking action would involve you breaking out of your daily routine and doing something extra. You’ll never fully understand something until you have experienced it, and experience comes when you begin to act. The actions may look small, but they are baby steps that would help you walk out of your comfort zone.
Surround yourself with risk-takers
Certain people view life itself as a risk, and such people are just perfect for you if you intend to leave the place of comfort. This is because such people exude a level of confidence that is contagious, which would go a long way in helping you defeat your fear.
When you move with risk-takers, they push you to do more and give you no room for excuses.
Do new things with someone else
It is easier to do something different and new in the company of others. There’s no harm done if you rely on friends or family to make a new activity less challenging.
There’s a level of confidence and boldness that knowledge gives a person. Always try to conduct research and findings on the various passions and interests you have.
That way, you make them familiar to you, and then it becomes easier for you to execute them.
Doing things differently from the usual way may not be pleasant, but it is worth it. There is so much in you for you to limit yourself to a specific pattern.
Remember, the greatest threat to your success and life experience is you. Walk out of your convenience zone, and you’ll be glad you did.
