Live your life by design


I was once told there are two types of people. There are people that life happens to them. Following the crowd, unsure what direction to take mostly because of fear. They let things happen and blame others or situations for not achieving their goals. These people react to life and let life dictate their choices. This is what is called, living life on default.
However, there are other people that make plans and set goals. Most importantly, they take action in order to achieve their purpose in life. They see opportunities and grab it. They don’t wait for the perfect time and situation. They go for it and make it happen. They are intentional and have a plan of action.
It is so easy to fall into the bad habits that lead to a life lived by default. This is why it is important to have clarity on your goals and the direction that you want to take. Bob Proctor talks about the Knowing and Doing gap. We know what we should do. But most people don’t do what they should do.
Tips on how to live a life by Design instead of a life by Default?
- Write down your goals
If you are not use to writing your goals down, try it. Write down what you want. This is not the time to be vague, get clear on what you want. Then speak out, morning and night what your goals are.

2. Surround yourself with positive people
You become like those who we keep close. Look around at your inner circle of friends and confidantes. Are they who you would like to become? Do you admire and respect them? Surround yourself with positive people who are going to push you to your greatness.

3. Practise discipline
Discipline is the bridge between goals and achievement- Jim Rohn. Discipline creates habits, habits make routines, and routines become who you are daily. With disciple anything is possible. Self-discipline gives you the power to stick to your decisions and follow them through, without changing your mind, and is, therefore, one of the important requirements for achieving goals.

4. Take action
Just do it. Just speaking about your goals is not enough. You have to take productive actions steps towards what you want to do. Write down what you need to do in order to fulfil your goals. Always follow through and be consistent.
